The Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (Family Center) is the statewide, parent-directed center within Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS). The mission of the Family Center is to support and connect Michigan families of children and youth with special health care needs, provide family-centered leadership throughout Michigan’s health care settings, and partner in the decision-making process within the systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs.
The Family Center is excited to offer a series of free Virtual Parent Connect Calls monthly. Our August Call is scheduled for Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 11:00 am EST. Before you know it, your children are grown adults. If you have an adult child with special needs, there are many questions about the future. This webinar will discuss the experiences of adult siblings and how siblings can support their siblings with disabilities' future.
This presentation will share information on the following:
• How can families support the relationship of siblings in the future?
• Why is future planning important to adult siblings of people with disabilities?
• How can families include siblings in future planning?
• Preparing for the future caregivers.
Please join us as Angela Martin from Michigan Developmental Disabilities Institute speaks on Adult Sibling Support.
