Columbia School District will be closed tomorrow, November 15, 2022, due to the technology outage. Childcare will be open. Please see the email sent to parents and the information on www.myeagles.org site for further information.

Over the weekend, Jackson County ISD technology staff detected suspicious activity determined to be the result of a ransomware incident. Immediately upon discovering this activity, we proactively took systems offline in order to contain the incident. We have engaged external cybersecurity advisors to assist in the safe restoration of our systems and to investigate. We have also contacted law enforcement. Given the system disruption to classroom technology, we made the difficult decision to close schools today, Monday, November 14, 2022. Our teams are working around the clock to bring systems back up in a safe and secure manner. We will provide an operating status update later today. At this time, we continue to ask everyone to refrain from using any school-issued devices. We understand the inconvenience this is causing our students and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this situation. Student and staff data security is a top priority for the Jackson County ISD and the districts it serves. Our investigation is ongoing and we will provide additional updates as they become available.

The Columbia School District Board of Education meeting will proceed as previously scheduled. The meeting is tonight, Monday, November 14, 2022 at 7 pm at the Admin area Community Room.

Child Tax Credit: Columbia School District was just made aware of the child tax credit that is available for parents to file. The deadline for filing is tomorrow, Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Simply click the link and follow the directions: https://www.getctc.org/en

Correction: All Columbia Central tryouts and practices are canceled. Girls basketball tryouts are canceled for today. Tryouts will be rescheduled as soon as possible. Please disregard the previously scheduled message that went out at 11:16 am.

Brayden Lape, Mrs. Lape’s son, is competing on The Voice. On Monday we would like to show our support by having “Wear your hat backwards day” on Monday night and vote for Brayden! Monday: Everyone is invited to wear your hat backwards and show your support for Brayden Lape.

Columbia Central High School Girls Basketball tryouts will be on Monday, November 14th at 3 pm in the main gym. Students must have a physical on file to try out.
