Several families have mentioned that they wondered why the elementary schools went into a lockdown today. To increase the level of safety for our students and staff members, the computerized protocol dictates that when the high school goes into a lockdown, the elementary schools go into a lockdown. In addition, if one of the elementary schools were to go into lockdown, the other one would immediately go into a lockdown.
Midday today it was brought to the attention of the Columbia Central Jr Sr High School administration that a student had made a statement to indicate that a student had a bomb. Columbia Township Police and the Michigan State Police canine unit responded. The CCHS building was secured and searched for any potential threats with none being found. A specially trained dog was brought into the building by the State Police and nothing was found
